Kids Clothes Challenge Week has come and gone and I didn't sew all the clothes I had planned. At least I got the gingham top done and I have a pair of pants almost done. This bear is a birthday present I made for Sara a couple weeks ago. Anyways, I found some great inspiration among the other participants and also discovered some lovely new blogs. Thanks to everyone who visited my blog :-)

Kids Clothes Challenge Week Day 3~

I was able to complete this little summer top while Sara was napping yesterday. It's Butterick 3846 and was very easy. I'm into doilies right now, so I thought that would add just the right touch. I love how it criss-crosses in the back, kinda retro. Next on the list is a pair of pants. I'm hoping to get that done just as quick!

Kids Clothes Week Day 2~

I'm starting out with a cute little sleeveless top for Sara. This will be perfect for those hot summer days ahead. When I think of summer, I think of red gingham. Maybe I'll make some navy capri pants. Wouldn't that look cute together for the 4th of July? The baby will be napping shortly and I can get to it :-)

I'm getting ready to begin Meg's Kids Clothes Challenge Week. I think I'll try to make a couple pairs of pants and a cute little summer top. I've been wanting to make some summer clothes for Sara and this is just the motivation I need!

The weekend~
:: went to the farmer's market and bought cheese curds & plants :: roasted some asparagus :: bought two awesome tins from a thrift store :: smelled lilacs :: missed out on yard work due to rain :: husband came up with a great idea for a Mother's Day/Birthday gift for me :: looked at camcorders :: received this book :: breastfed half as much as usual each day, yay! :: had a baby who went to sleep with very little crying for the first time in two weeks :: went out-and-about on a Saturday night, a rarity for us ::

I rediscovered a beautiful quote today that I wrote down from a book I read a while ago, the wonderful The Gift of Motherhood :

"Within each child is a tiny seed. That seed is the origin of who he or she is. With careful tending - attention, love, nurturing - that seed can one day grow into the bloom it is meant to be. If you pay attention, you can discover the seedling within your child."

It's been one of those days....

A little applique and embroidery piece I made for my baby's "woodland" theme nursery. I really like the combination of them both and will definitely do it again sometime :-)

I finished my very first crochet project- a small afghan for my baby. The granny squares turned out a tad puffy, but I think it's fine considering it's my first project. Crocheting was one of those things I've always wanted learn and it feels great to actually be doing it. Gotta love those granny squares!
