Three bracelets found at the same store, for the grand sum of $7.00. I wonder if they were donated by the same lady...well, lucky find for me.

Last week at the thrift store, I purchased my first pair of thrifted shoes. I'm not really a big shoe person, so I rarely look at that section. But, I'm happy I looked and found these. And for only $3.

Yes, another doll for Thrift Thursday. Before we went into the thrift store, I told my daughter "no toys today." Then I end up finding one of the dolls on my vintage doll wishlist. Of course I had to buy it. This is Fisher Price's "My Friend Jenny", from the late 70's to early 80's. I still have my childhood "My Friend Mandy" doll, which I gave to my daughter. She loves having a friend for her. I'm still on the hunt for a "My Friend Becky" doll.

It's hard for me to resist a cute Holly Hobbie doll at the thrift stores. I remember having a few Holly Hobbie items as a child. I love it that my little girl now plays with her too.

This week I found something new at the thrift store. A new Nine West coin purse. I guess I didn't really need it, but it was too cute to pass up.

This weeks thrifted item is a vintage velvety pillow. Since it really doesn't go with my decor, it will be coming soon to my vintage shop. I really like this style of pillow and may have to make one like it for myself!

I'd like to start blogging a little more often, so I thought I'd start a weekly post called "Thrift Thursday." Here I'll share some of my recent thrift store finds. I found this cute straw bag for only $2 and it's big enough for all that extra "mom stuff" I need to carry around. You know, treats, face wipes, a toy or two, etc.
Quite the excitement around here today. I took my three year old to our library's story time today and a local TV station was there to film. She may be on the news tonight!

I've had some poor luck thrifting recently. I hit the jackpot just one time this month on this vintage chair. I have it in the corner of my craft room - it's perfect. Unfortunately, my cat loves to use it as a scratch post!
I have been sewing pillow covers from vintage fabrics to sell in my handmade shop. The one above (from a vintage tablecloth) I decided to keep for myself. Aren't the colors pretty? This past week I've been busy making macrame plant hangers for my shop. I'm totally addicted to macrame. Photos soon!

I finally had another good day at the thrift store yesterday. I found vintage sheets and pillowcases, a Holly Hobbie Colorforms set (I always wanted that as a kid) and a vintage doll. I flipped out when I saw this vintage 1968 Stacey doll for only $3! Stacey is supposed to be Barbie's "mod friend" from England, according to this great website devoted to Barbie dolls. This one is definitely a keeper!

A couple of new Barbies- for me, not my daughter :) I splurged and bought the reproduction 1966 Francie doll off ebay. She's Barbie's "MODern cousin." I found the vintage Malibu Barbie at the thrift store. Oh my, those tan lines are harsh!
It's been a tough week. My little one has been sick, I'm behind in my vintage shop update...just not a good week. Hopefully we can turn things around this weekend.
I hopefully be back tomorrow with some photos of some great vintage dresses I've found!

I found two more Make it Yourself books (1975) to add to my collection. I think I have five books from their series so far. Love them- SO 1970's. Each book covers a variety of crafts, sewing, crochet, etc. One book actually has a latch hook bedspread which is quite hideous! But there are some awesome ideas in these books, like their embroidery and bead weaving. I'd love to try to weave a chevron bracelet out of beads. Something else for my to-do list!

It was a good day at the thrift stores today. I was so excited about finding that 60's cocktail dress for only $3.00, but when I got home I noticed some bad underarm stains. Darn!

Have you made any resolutions for 2012? I have a quite a list of goals, including goals for this blog. I realized I haven't been posting enough about my vintage finds. So here we go! I bought all of this in the past couple days. I love that wool A-line skirt. I always thought this type of skirt looks great with boots. The sewing book is from 1961 and has some adorable illustrations. Some of this may find its way into my vintage shop. I also found a teal vintage typewriter, but that beauty will have it's own post!

Saturday we drove an hour to one of my favorite thrift stores. It's in a small town, but it's a huge store. I always seem to have good luck at small town thrift stores. Anyways, look at these cute Christmas items I bought. I love this crochet throw! I haven't decided yet if I'll put it in the shop, it's so pretty.
I'm working on sewing some things for my handmade shop, which I hope to open soon. I've realized I need to start a schedule for myself in order to get things done. Being a stay-at-home mom, selling on etsy, and trying to keep a somewhat clean home is taking some work. But I'm trying to learn how to balance it all :)

I went to a thrift store yesterday that I haven't been to in quite a while. The only thing I've bought there in the past was embroidery hoops. But I'm glad I stopped yesterday. Look at what I found- I'm so surprised. I can't resist a cute pedestal mug. I must have at least a dozen of those. I should probably take a photo of my collection sometime. I'd like to cut out the bunny in the card and decoupage it on something. Overall, decent finds for only $3.00!

I've been having good luck at the thrift stores this week. Craft books, sewing patterns, mod pedestal mugs, flash cards, and several vintage Fisher Price toys. Oh yeah.
We're getting over a bad cold this week too. It's amazing my 28 month old handles sickness so much better than I do. Thank goodness for that :-) We'll be back to normal by the weekend. I'm looking forward to getting apples from the orchard and one last trip to the farmer's market. And maybe baking some apple turnovers too, yum.

I finally had a good day at a thrift store. Look at these awesome patterns! Almost all are from the late 60's to 70's.I wasn't able to look through all the patterns because my little sidekick was getting cranky. I'm making another trip back later to get some more. I also noticed there were a lot of vintage crochet and knitting booklets I need to check out as well. I'm keeping the pattern in the middle photo. Sara would look so cute in that dress with the collar. That's so adorable!

My finds from a church sale a couple weeks ago. Still not a lot of luck at the thrift stores. I didn't get to that flea market last weekend, but hopefully I'll make it to the one in September.
I'm so behind in blogging, I'm sorry. I have so many things to share. My little one has been having shorter naps lately, so there has been less "me" time. But as of right now, she's almost been napping for 2 1/2 hours. Yay!
Anyways, I have to share this music video. I've seen a lot of bloggers raving about Bon Iver, so I finally checked their music out. Awesome. The video for the song Holocene is beautiful. Sara had to watch it seven times in a row. I think someone just woke up. More soon...

Have you seen the new magazine Mollie Makes? It's my new favorite magazine, with great crafty how-to's like these fabric strawberries. Aren't they cute? I had to throw in a photo of my thrifty finds from last weekend. I haven't had a lot of luck thrifting lately. I may go to a big flea market on Sunday, so maybe that will change my luck. Sorry posts have been a little light lately. I've been working hard to get my vintage shop open on etsy. The end is near :-) I'll get back on track with blogging next week. Have a good weekend!

Going out to the thrift stores today in the cold and rain paid off! My first Vera item, a tea towel. I'll take a better photo of it once it's ironed. I may make a table runner out of this. I also found the most adorable smocked toddler dress (photo soon) and a small vintage chalkboard for Sara's room. It seems like all the vintage dresses I find lately are pink. Hopefully I'll add a little more color to my collection. Have a nice day :-)
